Traverse ’13

This summer will begin with us taking on our entire 200+ mile route for the first time. Over the course of 21 days, we’ll be spending nights in 14 different Lean-to’s and 2 tent locations, meeting with support teams to re-supply 6 times and traveling via bike, canoe and of course our own hiking boots. And throughout the entire three week journey, we’ll be raising support for Big City Mountaineers and Summit For Someone.

Traverse Dates: Saturday, June 8 – Friday, June 28, 2013

For the last 5 years, the Adirondacks have been our biggest gift. Being outside, climbing, hiking, and backpacking, we’ve been fortunate enough to learn so much. It has truly shaped us and helped us determine where we want to go with the rest of out lives.

And more recently, that has become more clear to us. Although the Adirondacks will always be out home, we’ve been unable to resist the urge to climb bigger mountains.

So, our goal this summer is twofold. First, we want to allow the kids that need it most to have the same opportunities that we have and to be able to experience the outdoors like we have. Introducing others to what we do has always been very important to us and when it happens to be kids that might not have a chance to otherwise, it becomes extremely important.

Second, these two trips will signify, for us, a shift in our goals from those in the Adirondacks to those of high-altitude mountaineering. Later in the summer we will be participating in a Summit For Someone climb of Washington state’s Mount Rainier, widely considered the premier mountaineering/glacier travel peak in the lower 48.

Scheduled Rainier Summit Day: August 11, 2013

We will never be done in the Adirondacks. There is still plenty we want to do there and plenty we want to accomplish and the ‘Daks will always be out home. However, the worlds high peaks have captured us and we’ve decided to begin our journey up.

So help us compete our journey by supporting Big City Mountaineers and our Adirondack Traverse. Learn more about the cause, donate directly, purchase merchandise or raffle tickets and follow us on our journey all from here!

How Can You Help?

This is the question we hear the most. Honestly, you’re helping us accomplish some of our goals, right now, just by checking out our website, reading this, and learning about what we’re doing.

One of the biggest things you can do to help is by simply spreading the word. Send this website to your friends via email or text, like and share our Facebook page with all of your online friends, retweet us, spread around our videos, and of course just talk to people. Even with today’s technology, word of mouth is still king. Talk to your friends and co-workers and tell them about what we’re doing and how they can find out more and continue sharing!

If you’re interested in helping us out by throwing up some official Adirondack Traverse posters where you live or if you have any other ideas of how to help spread the word, shoot us an email!

And finally, of course, you can donate. None of this would be possible without your financial support and every penny is appreciated. Whether that’s a direct donation or a purchase, everything counts. We have a lot of money to raise and we couldn’t do it without you.
